If you have not checked the blog in past days or completed the past assignments, please scroll down so that you can get caught up on your current art assignment.
THANK YOU!!! to everyone who posted on the padlet last week and has reached out to me with questions.
Continue working on your self portrait assignment. You will be posting your complete work to your weebly websites by the end of the week, Friday March 27th.
*Check back daily to see updates for each day of the week.
Monday: Continue sketchbook work and brainstorming. Post your work to the Padlet from last week. *Scroll down to the past blog post to find the padlet and receive feedback from your classmates.
Thinking about your self portrait work:
-What artist and/or style best fits your personality?
-What message or theme do you wish to portray with an artwork based on yourself?
-Will you work with only one art medium or a combination of several?
-Is there a specific object that could be included that presents you? An object that represents your family?
Tip: Use a photo as a reference and a grid enlargement method as needed. You can do this with a picture on your phone and digitally place a grid on top or print out a picture and draw the grid onto the printed photo. Then on your final drawing paper, you will make another grid, usually scaled to be twice the size.

Use pixlr.com photo editor. Click here!
1. Use “open image from computer”. Bring in your portrait picture.
2. Go to the top menu bar and click on “adjustments” scroll down to “desaturate.”
This will make the picture black and white.
3. Go to “adjustments” again and scroll down to “posterize”.
Adjust the posterize levels as needed. For example, level 3 only shows 3 color values. Increase the level to see more values of color.
4. Use additional features as needed to edit your reference picture.
